ITALIAN FOOD & WINE EXPERIENCE
September 30 - October 9

This Culinary Adventure begins on the Mediterranean coast in the area known as Liguria. The Grand Hotel rises above the picture postcard fishing village of Portovenere. Less than 15 minutes by boat to the Cinque Terre, our Hotel served as a convent in the not too distant past. This village is rich with style and history and our hotel gives you front door access to the ancient ruins, shops that line the narrow alleys and the sea and pesto influenced foods of the region. We will spend three nights in this special place and have our first lessons in the foods of Italy from the entertaining Chef/Teacher Paolo Monti.

Fattoria La Loggia


Our next stop will be Fattoria La Loggia in the rolling hills of Tuscany. This one time medieval hamlet has been converted into a series of suites and boutique hotel rooms, decorated with a splash of Modern Italian Art. Tuscany is at our doorstep, with Florence only 20 minutes north and Siena 45 minutes south. Our cooking lessons are taught by Elena Mattei in her professional teaching kitchen near Florence.

 

 

Castello di Pavone


Our final three nights will be spent in the incredible Castello di Pavone in the Piedmont region. Pictures do not do justice to the exquisite detail that has restored this castle to its' present grandeur. It is truly a feast for the eyes! But the unique surroundings are not the reason for our visit, for here we are close to the source of the White Truffle….and October is the season! Our culinary explorations will focus on this most pleasantly pungent "fruit of the earth".
