NORTHERN MEDITERRANEAN
2002 — Seven Days

Location: The medieval fishing village of Portovenere, on the Ligurain Sea a short distance from Pisa. Portovenere is just a short water taxi ride south of the southern-most village of the fabled Cinque Terra. There is regular boat service to all the villages of the Cinque Terra with a boat ride of only 45 minutes separating Portovenere from Monte Rosa, the northern most of the five villages. However Portovenere’s picturesque setting is every bit as worthy of any of these more famous sister villages.

Accommodations: The Grand Hotel offers comfortable rooms with private baths in the tradition of fine modern Italian Hotels. Many of the rooms have exquisite views of the protected bay that leads to the Gulf of Poets on the Ligurian Seas.

Program: A complete exposure to the foods and cooking of Liguria under the direction of resident teaching chef Paolo Monti. Mr. Monti has built a reputation for conducting lively and entertaining lessons for his classes, creating an opportunity for everyone to participate and have a comfortable learning experience. There will be a total of five cooking classes, culminating with guests enjoying their efforts at the table together!
