Historically Tuscany was the center of art and culture during the Renaissance. While it remains rich in art and culture, it is also rich in food and wine. This region of Italy is famous for many varieties of wines and olive oils. We will spend a week exploring the beauty and history of Tuscany and learning “the secrets of the Tuscan table.”

Locanda Le Piazze
|
Accommodations:
We’ll experience our own little piece of Tuscan heaven as we settle into Locanda Le Piazze, a centuries-old farm that has been carefully restored to an elegant country inn in a panoramic setting of olive groves and vineyards. It sits among other lovely hilltop villas in the lush Chianti region. The grounds of this estate are naturally landscaped and beautifully maintained. Lounge areas with fireplaces and over-stuffed couches are a cozy place to relax and visit with friends. And a swimming pool and sun deck await summer visitors for a refreshing dip.
Everywhere you look from this hillside retreat you will see a countryside rich with vineyards and orchards. Each day you will discover the beauty, charm and comfort of Italian country estate living at its finest!
Program:
Our stay in Tuscany provides opportunities for cooking lessons by Matia Barciulli at Osteria di Passignano and Gianluca Pardini at his professional teaching kitchen in Lucca. These are followed by two lessons conducted by Paolo Monti, who introduces Italian seafood and pesto-influenced dishes of the Cinque Terre.
Schedule Includes:
- Guided tours of Siena, Lucca and San Gimignano
- Boutique wineries and producers of olive oil
- Four hands-on cooking lessons with three different Italian chefs
- Three wine-tasting tours, two cheese tours and one balsamic vinegar tour
- Market visits
