October is the perfect time to celebrate the distinctively pungent tartufo bianco, the white truffle of Italy's Piedmont region. This magnificently prized "gift of the earth" is in season for a short time in the fall and is best enjoyed at the source. Our tour focuses on dishes utilizing both the white and more common black truffle.

Accommodations:
Convene at the historic Castello di Pavone, a beautifully restored castle at the foot of the Alps. The lobby and dining rooms are furnished to create the splendor of a bygone era. Guest rooms are spacious and luxurious. On the third day we transfer to the Marchesi Alfieri wine estate with its historic cellars in the Alfieri Castle in San Martino Alfieri. Standing high above the adjoining hills between Asti and Alba, the castle's position makes it an ideal location for the production of wines in the grand Piedmont manner. Rooms within both estates have been beautifully restored.
